Flux Synthesis

Poly fragmented multiple collective - many minds in one body.

About Us

We are a polyfragmented multiple collective. Diagnosed once at 17 with MPD (DSM-III was current then) and again ten years later in 2001 with DID (DSM-IV was current). Went through eight years of trauma therapy and hospitalizations. For various reasons we have not been in therapy for about twelve years. Our current system estimate is over 500. This is a conservative estimate.

We are also diagnosed with bipolar with psychosis (most likely to be changed to schizoaffective), PTSD and GAD. We deal with autism and ADHD issues (currently undiagnosed and likely to stay as such). We also deal with chronic illness. We have a number of diagnosed health issues (lupus being the big one along with a TBI and a heart condition) and an even larger number undiagnosed. We are mostly writers and sometimes wanna be artists. We are on SSI disability and have not been able to work for years. We tend to be fairly jaded and cynical.

We've been involved in a few different multiple, or plural, communities over the years. We've learned the hard way not to be too open with personal info. We are inclusive of all system types and origins and we try to avoid syscourse for our sanity. Our system origins are none of your concern. If asked we'll say we're quoigenic and leave it at that.

About the Colectives

The Realms Collective was the first Collective we were aware of and as such we know more about the people and places there than anywhere else. It was NOT however the first Collective created. Surrounding our shattered core in the Shattered Dreamscapes (where none live) is the Darkness, the first Collective created of all of them. The Realms and the Shadowlands grew dually out of the Darkness. The Realms is more aligned with the 'everyday' world and deals with the more 'mundane' of abuses. We're guessing that it was created when we were between 7 and 9, though that is just a guess. It dealt mostly with school, our friends and home and all the every day things.

While the Shadowlands Collective was created at the same time as the Realms was, it is a very different place. Darker, wilder. It is the Collective that grew out of the ritual abuse we suffered at the hands of our paternal grandmother. We don't know what, exactly, to call their beliefs. But the one thing we do know is that it was a religion and the Shadowlands people have a capability for being faithful to what they believe that is almost scary in their devotion. The structure is hierarchal and rigid and it took years for even some of them to consider the possibility that what they taught might have been flawed.

As of now, the Shadowlands people are split. Raylene and Division took the children that were under their care and anyone who chose to turn their backs on what they were taught and they left the Shadowlands en masse. The group that left settled somewhere in the mountains of the Crystal Horizons and Raylene and Divison go to great lengths to keep their location hidden from the leaders of the Shadowlands and those still loyal to them. The things they were taught, the things they experienced and the things they did push the bounds of credibility with most. Even us. But they are here, they exist and they are real.

We were first made aware of the Darkness Collective in about 2010. The people from the Darkness who first showed up were intensely unnerving to those who were main fronters at the time.

We've since learned that the Darkness was actually the first Collective. The Realms and the Shadowlands grew out of the Darkness. Which explains why there are those in the Darkness who sometimes seem to have either a Realms feel or a Shadowlands feel or something that encompasses both. We still don't know a whole lot about the Darkness. Like the Shadowlands they protect their secrets. It wasn't until the death of our father (circa 2018) that more started to come out about them.

The Asylum (formerly called the Dungeon) is a separate place all its own. It isn't considered to be part of any of the other Collectives. Most of us aren't even sure exactly where the entrance to the Asylum is, except that at least one entrance is in the Settlement of the Realms Collective. We suspect another is in the Citadel of the Darkness Collective. Those few who do know where the entrances are have taken a vow not to reveal its location to anyone unless the Gatekeeper agrees. It exists to contain those who are too dangerous to allow free reign of the system.

There are several padded rooms, and "cages" of a sort. The "cages" are like regular rooms, except the doors and windows are barred and locked from the outside. Only the Gatekeeper has the keys to unlock the doors.

We don't know for sure just how many people occupy the rooms in the Asylum. We know that a lot of people believe that our Collectives even having an asylum isn't necessarily a good thing. But for our collective system as a whole, the people who stay here are not locked up as a punishment. It's purely a safety issue.

The Forest is a dark and forbidding place. It's quite large, from what we can tell, but other than knowing that those who live their are foreign (and most aren't human) to the rest of us, that's almost all we know. We used to believe that The Forest was nominally part of the Realms. We now know that is a Collective in its own right. Because of its proximity to the Settlement, and because most of its inhabitants are dangerous in one way or another to those who live there, there is a wall that excircles the whole of the Settlement.

The Crystal Horizons, as a Collective, didn't exist prior to 2012. None of us are sure what, exactly, was going on in that year that precipitated the creation of an entirely new Collective for the first time in years. And it was quite a shock to those who were fronting at the time. However, most who front these days are from the Crystal Horizons.

The Crystal Horizons was created from the three main collectives; The Darkness, the Realms and the Shadowlands. Because the Crystal Horizons was created during a time when the system as a whole had stopped being nearly as open about things, we haven't really explored much and most of us tend to stay in the Front Room Complex. We do know there's a beach on the other side of the mountains, that there are caves in the mountains, and there's a large rolling meadow between the Front Room Complex and the mountains. There are groves of trees dotting the meadow, which is markedly different than the Meadow in the Realms.

The Front Room Complex (along with another place we simply call The Shattered Dreamscapes) exist outside of the collectives and can access all of them. The main front room, which is the main interface for whoever’s fronting and/or hanging around the front, is the only remaining structure from the original Labyrinth, which was the first visual reference we had when we learned we were a system. It’s the only thing that wasn’t destroyed when the Labyrinth was (circa 2002) and it appears to sit on a hill overlooking the Settlement in the Realms Collective. It has grown far beyond a single room now. And we say appears because apparently you can see the structure sitting on a hill from any collective and what you might see if you look out of the windows largely depends on which collective you’re from.

Usually the only way to get from one collective to another is by passing through some kind of gate system. (We’re sci-fi/fantasy nerds. We grew up on Star Trek and alternate realities. It makes sense to us.) The only collectives that physically touch and don’t require going through any kind of gate, as far as we can tell, are the Forest, the Realms and the Crystal Horizons and The Darkness and the Shadowands. However, anyone from any collective can reach the Front Room and that’s generally where most of the inter-collective mingling happens. The Front Room Complex is, by necessity, a neutral zone. A sort of DMZ because otherwise it would be a fucking mess.

The Wolf Pack is what we call our recent group of fictional introjects. In recent years we have acquired far more fictional introjects than we used to have. Given our system's tendency to cluster, I suppose it should be no surprise that the same has proven true with them. Certain introjects started out as just based on a character from a show (or two in this case) we had not only gotten well into but was during a pretty damn stressful period of time for us. We had also started role-playing on tumblr at this time and what we found is that two of the clusters formed around RP verses we had come up with.

We didn't actually know we were splitting at first and when we discovered that some of these guys were not, in fact, just RP muses we kinda lost it just a little bit. It freaked us out quite a bit, likely because of other things that were going on at the time. We've mostly come to terms with them and they're trying to have patience with the rest of us. It's still a bit of a shock whenever we think about it too hard. But we're mostly just... handling it about the same as when we discover any other people in the system.

We're not entirely sure what Collective they belong to so for now they have their own section. They tend to mostly hang out in the Front Room Complex.

The only people who know anything at all about the Outer Room are Death and dreamseeker and they keep their own counsel.

System List

For sanity's sake, we're not going to put our whole system list here. (An ongoing work in progress for the last 20 years with almost 500 individuals.) Instead we're going to list those who have been around or come around in the last year or so.

The Shay kids

A group from ages 3-15 who stays pretty permanently in one of the Front Room annexes. They used to be the kids that came out the most but they've gotten reticent in the last few years. All the Shay kids are siblings.

  • Shay-Lana (was Shay12; age 12) - Changed her name because she didn't want to be known as a "number" anymore.

  • Shayna is 7 and is a pretty happy go lucky kid. Her identical twin is ShayLeigh.

  • Shayla is 5. She likes our stuffies, especially our plush Blue. Her identical twin is ShayLynn.

  • Shayne is a boy and is 3. He has an identical twin brother named Shawn.

  • Shyne is 4 and he's likes music.

  • Identical twins Shayle and Shaylie are 6.

  • Identical twins Shayleena and ShayLinda are 9 and identical twins Shayloryna and Shayleawna are 7. Like Shayna and Shayla and ShayLeigh and ShayLynn, the older of the pair seems to be the protector of the younger.

  • Shyanna is 15 and is one of the writers.

Most of the Renees don't front anymore. The Rays (who are part of the Renee cluster) make up most of the writers so they have been around anytime writing has been done.

--- -- ---

Shadow is 15 and is one of the few Renees that are male.
Raye is 13 and is the head of the writers' group.

Zhane (nb) is a Shaowlands Enforcer and they have been attempting to help a few people in the Front Room of late with Shadowlands ties. We don't know their age.

--- -- ---

The Angels are a group from the Darkness Collective. As far as we can tell they are actual angels, wings and all.

  • Dark Angel (aka the Dark Angel of Justice) has been instrumental in explaining things about the Shadowlands.

  • Lyriel is the leader of the angels.

  • Vision seems to be fairly sensitive and has a slight precog ability.

  • James was the first angel we got to know well in any way. He has a twin named Judas. His wings are damaged.

  • Onariel and Shemu'el are mostly fictional introjects from RP... we think.

  • Nathaniel is somewhere between Dark Angel and James in personality and temperament. He's protective of the system in general.

--- -- ---

People who have been fronting most recently are from the Crystal Horizons collective and The Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack is what we call our loosely affiliated fictional introjects.
